Resetting Your Financial Life Through Bankruptcy

There is no shame in needing debt relief. In the United States, anyone who is overwhelmed by debt has a right to declare bankruptcy and start over. Federal bankruptcy laws were set up to help people discharge their debts, end creditor harassment and make a fresh financial start.

The Ohio bankruptcy attorneys of Russo, Rosalina & Co., LPA, can help you figure out the best plan for you. Our lawyers frequently handle complex legal and bankruptcy law issues and appreciate your need for confidentiality and attentive service. Contact us to get our lawyers on your side.

Chapter 7 Bankruptcy ● Chapter 13 Bankruptcy

At Russo, Rosalina & Co., LPA, we limit our practice to Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy. Under Chapter 7 bankruptcy, the debtor discharges nearly all debts while getting to keep most property such as cars and houses. Under Chapter 13 bankruptcy, the debtor obtains a discharge after a period of time by completing a payment plan.

Our lawyers primarily help clients file for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. However, laws took effect in 2005 that prevent some people from filing Chapter 7. A person must take a means test to determine his or her eligibility to file a Chapter 7 bankruptcy petition.

The different types of debt are treated differently in bankruptcy. It is relatively easy, for example, to discharge credit card debt through bankruptcy. It is more difficult to discharge debts owed to the IRS for unpaid taxes. Contact our Ohio bankruptcy attorneys for answers to your bankruptcy law questions.
